Cookery class at Castlehaven
Saturday 28th March will be our third seasonal cookery class at Castlehaven community hub in Camden Town.
Castlehaven is not a fancy cookery school, it is a small, cozy and utilitarian kitchen which allows me to offer the classes to small groups at affordable rates. We all gather round a central island and walk through the preparation of a seasonal, vegetarian lunch which we will all sit down and share together at the end. This session will feature Purple sprouting broccoli, wild garlic, early new potatoes, forced Yorkshire Rhubarb and more…it is suitable for all levels of cooks including those with no experience.
The price is £60. Use the link below for any more info or to book!
Cookery class at Castlehaven Kitchen
November 2025 saw the first of my cookery classes at Castlehaven Community Kitchen in Camden. We had a fun day exploring the versatility and deliciousness of the pumpkin family. It was the first in a series celebrating seasonal produce at the top of its game, crafted into simple but tasty dishes. Classes start again for 2026 on SATURDAY 7th MARCH featuring fantastic ingredients that light up the winter (and are happy to grow without much sun…or any)!
Expect to find radicchio and chicory, fennel and celeriac, forced Yorkshire rhubarb and more…
sessions are three hours long and run From 12 midday with two hours of teaching before we sit down to a lunch of what we’ve made. We’ll head home at around 3pm.
Castlehaven is not a fancy cookery school, it’s a small and utilitarian space and I’m using it for a few really important reasons. First and foremost, the demo kitchen is more like the kind we have to live with in a city like London, meaning that what we make there can easily be reproduced at home. It’s also affordable to rent which means I can charge less for cookery classes (which can be very expensive). Because the space is affordable I can also run smaller classes with a maximum of ten people in each session.
To make the classes accessible to everyone I am keeping the content vegetarian, and vegan if required, although you don’t need to be either of those things to enjoy the class. All the dishes would happily compliment non vegetarian meals and I can show how to make that work.
The cost of these classes is £60. This includes the meal at the end plus a digital info and recipe pack sent to you after the class.
If you’re unable to make these dates or would like to create a group and book your own session, contact me using the link below. Between four and six people is ideal. We can hire the kitchen most days of the week, but it tends to be booked up on Sundays.
Here are a few things people said after the last class
”The dishes were delicious…simple enough to cook at home yet looked like something you’d order from a restaurant!”
“Super clear explanations and demonstrations…my pumpkin cutting, rice choosing and risotto buttering will never be the same again. I’m also inspired by the choice of recipes, all of them unusual but simple, the best combination”.
“I loved the venue, especially the huge bright windows…the kitchen was just the right size and had most of the things we needed”.
